Castle in the Air

SKU: 117

This work was inspired by a fairy tale that Escher read to his son, George. An evil magician kidnapped a princess and brought her to a floating castle. The prince is saved by tortoise as the magician escapes with his sister. The castle is inspired by Mont Saint-Michel, which Escher visited as a teenager.
