Sky and Water is one of Escher's earliest and most famous woodcuts. The birds and fish flow together, left to right, in rhythm, reminding us of the delicate balance of an ecosystem, although Escher insisted that was not his intent!  Intentions aside, Sky and Water contains a natural poetry rarely achieved in art.
